Norway: No Oil at Storebjorn, Det Norske Says

Det norske oljeselskap ASA, as operator for Production Licence 450, is about to complete drilling operations on well 7/12-13S on the Storebjorn prospect, offshore Norway

The Storebjørn prospect is located in the southern North Sea, in close proximity to existing infrastructure on the Ula and Gyda fields.

High pressure zones were encountered in the well. Special procedures apply to high pressure drilling, and therefore the well has taken longer to complete than originally planned.

The reservoir sections were water bearing, and the well will be plugged and abandoned as a dry well. The operation is carried out using the jack-up rig Mærsk Guardian.

Det norske holds a 60 percent ownership stake in the well. Other partners include Dana Petroleum with a 25 percent ownership interest and North Energy with a 15 percent ownership stake.
