The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has granted RWE Dea Norge AS a drilling permit for well 6507/7-15 S, cf. Section 8 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Well 6507/7-15 S will be drilled from the West Alpha drilling facility in position 65°25’31.81” north and 7°05’56.11” east.

The drilling programme for well 6507/7-15 S relates to the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 435. RWE Dea Norge AS is the operator with an ownership interest of 40 per cent. The other licensees are Maersk Oil Norway AS (20 per cent), Edison International Norway Branch (20 per cent) and Norwegian Energy Company ASA (20 per cent).

The area in this licence consists of parts of blocks 6507/7 and 6507/8. The well will be drilled about 13 kilometres northwest of the Heidrun field and about 30 kilometres north of Åsgard.

Production licence 435 was awarded in APA 2006 (16 February 2007). This is the second well to be drilled in the licence.

The permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities before commencing drilling activity.
