Norway - Scana Wins Propulsion Equipment Contract from STX OSV

Scana Industrier ASA has through its subsidiary Scana Propulsion AS signed new contracts with STX OSV Trading and Man Diesel AS, for delivery of propulsion equipment. The total value of the new contracts is approx 30 mln NOK (approx USD 5.2 mln). The contract with STX OSV AS is for delivery of gear- and cp propeller system with control system for one Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessel (AHTS) for Iceman AS.

The vessel is of STX OSV AH12 design, built for multi role operations in harsh and arctic areas according to ice class. The propulsion system from Scana Propulsion is a hybrid system. Delivery is planned for Q4 2012.

Scana Propulsion has built a good reputation as a supplier of advanced and tailor made propulsion systems for larger AHTS vessels, and is proud to be selected by STX OSV for yet another delivery to their sophisticated vessels designs.

The contract with Man Diesel AS is for delivery of a Scana Propulsion ACG 1080 2-speed reduction gear into a Man Propulsion package to the new Trawler/Seiner for the Norwegian shipowner Herøyhav AS. The hull will be built at Klaipeda Shipyard in Lithuania, and will be finalized at Karstensens Skipsværft in Denmark. The vessel is of Karstensens Design, and the propulsion system is a hybrid system. The equipment will be delivered in Q4 2012. Scana Propulsion has long traditions as a supplier to the Norweigan fishing fleet, and is proud to achieve this order for the new “Herøyhav”.

The market for advanced vessel operation tends for environmental friendly solutions with high flexibility in operation by use of hybrid and diesel electric propulsion, which represents high potential for the Scana Propulsion product range.
