STX's Aukra Shipyard Names Platform Supply Vessel Olympic Energy

The naming ceremony for Olympic Shipping’s new vessel Olympic Energy was performed on March 24th in Ålesund harbour, Norway. After the ceremony, the ship was open to the public and about 1500 visitors used the chance to take aboard the vessel.

Olympic Shipping AS, STX OSV and the Training Office of Maritime Studies were represented at the deck, where those who were interested could get further information about the ship.

Olympic Energy is a PSV 06 LNG design and will be delivered from STX OSV’s Aukra Shipyard later this month. The vessel is designed as a platform supply vessel for worldwide operations and transport of general cargo for offshore industry.

It has the following features:

  • Environmental friendly design, with low resistance hull shape designed for high speed and low fuel consumptions.
  • High comfort onboard with class notation COMF-V (3)- and good sea keeping performance.
  • Dynamic positioning system, DYNPOS- AUTR.
  • Methanol cargo system.
  • Standby Rescue for 240 persons.
  • Oil recovery systems in accordance with NOFO 2009 requirements.
  • Special Purpose Ship (SPS) stability code, 2008.
  • LNG driven main engines, generator set 2 & 3.
  • SCR (catalyst) system for removal of NOx on generator set 1 & 4.
  • Intersleek 970 antifouling system.
