Norway: Subsea Tunnel Engineering Services Tender Announced

Business & Finance

Statens vegvesen Region South which intends, on behalf of Vest-Agder County, to build a subsea tunnel between the mainland and the island of Hidra in Flekkefjord Municipality, has announced the tender for the tunnel engineering services.

In this connection, the County Governor of Vest-Agder has requested that the contractor carries out the construction in accordance with environmental permits and established environmental monitoring in Hidrasunnet, in the period when the ongoing tunnel construction and filling-in of the sea is executed. This is primarily for the sake of protection of fish farming facilities in the area.

The tender contest includes establishing, operation and maintenance of equipment for, for example, the monitoring of flow direction, speed and turbididy in Hidrasunnet in the given measurement points.

The interface to the clerk of work will be the delivery of test results. These will again be a guideline for when the dumping of underground rock in sea fillings could take place.

Deadline for the tender submission is 23 April 2012.
