Norwegian Breakaway Moves from Big Apple to Big Easy

After returning from its summer 2018 season in the Baltic, Norwegian Breakaway will reposition from the Big Apple to the Big Easy for the winter 2018/19 season, according to the vessel’s owner Norwegian Cruise Line.

From its new homeport, the 4,000 passenger ship will sail to the Caribbean, visiting Mexico, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Honduras and Belize. Norwegian Breakaway will offer seven, 10- and 11-day cruises to the Caribbean.

“Norwegian Breakaway will be the largest and newest ship from Norwegian to sail from New Orleans, and we are thrilled to bring our signature Breakaway-class ship to this important homeport,” said Andy Stuart, president and CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line.

The 145,655 gross ton cruise ship, which debuted in 2013, will undergo a two-week dry dock next spring, prior to moving to its new homeport.

Additionally, the company’s Jewel-class ship Norwegian Gem will sail from New York City for the winter 2018/19 season. The recently refurbished cruise ship will sail a series of cruises to the Caribbean, Canada and New England, and the Bahamas and Florida.

Norwegian Gem will share its Manhattan homeport with Norwegian Escape, which will reposition for summer 2018 for the first time since it was christened in 2015, sailing from New York City to Bermuda on seven-day cruises starting from April 2018.
