OceanWind to Store E.ON's Cables

E.ON and OceanWind have signed a long term contract for provision of port facilities, offloading and storage of cables.

OceanWind, a joint venture between Norwegian Oceanteam Shipping ASA and Dutch WIND BV, has already offloaded the first cables at its facilities in Velsen Noord, the Netherlands.

More cables are expected to be stored at their facilities during this year.

“OceanWind is pleased and looks forward to cooperate with E.ON on this project.”

This is an example of demand for cable storage hub which has direct access to North Sea.

The North Sea has great offshore wind potential, which confirms EWEA’s report that states “Developing less than 5% of the North Sea surface area would enable offshore wind to supply roughly one-quarter of the EU’s current electricity needs.”
