According to Odfjell Drilling, the Deepsea Nordkapp rig is the one that has wrapped up its five-year main class renewal certificate offshore in full operation. This comes after the company inked an amendment with Aker BP to enable a two-year extension of the firm contract for the rig on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS).

“Our dedicated team worked tirelessly to achieve the certificate while upholding the highest standards of quality and navigating the challenges with zero incidents! This achievement proves the power of innovation and collaborative teamwork. Special thanks to our valued alliance partners, Aker BP and Halliburton, for their support and engagement throughout this journey. Together, we’ve set a new standard in excellence,” outlined the offshore drilling player.

The 2019-built Deepsea Nordkapp, former Stena Midmax, semi-submersible drilling rig, which Odfjell Drilling bought from Samsung Heavy in April 2018, is a sixth-generation dynamically positioned harsh environment and winterized semi-submersible of a Moss-enhanced CS 60E design.

The extension with Aker BP was secured a month after Odfjell Drilling got another one with Equinor to drill additional wells on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
