Oil & Gas UK conference to address how to maximize investment in UKCS

Oil & Gas UK, the representative organization for the UK offshore oil and gas industry, will discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that the UK Continental Shelf presents at the annual Oil & Gas UK Conference in Aberdeen.

Oil & Gas UK said on Monday that Stephen Halliday, Group President of Wood Mackenzie, Verisk Maplecroft and 3E Company has been announced as one of the key speakers at the annual Oil & Gas UK Conference, which will be held in Aberdeen on June 14 and 15.

His opening address entitled Maximising Investment in a Mature Basin will describe the decisions needed to keep operations stable, the opportunities still available, as well discussing the future decommissioning market over the next five years.

Halliday said: “The UK faces the dual challenges of the low oil price and declining investment. Progress has been made in making the sector more attractive, particularly with lower tax and a new regulator. However, action needs to be taken to ensure that we optimize investment returns and make use of existing infrastructure. Costs have been coming down – but the industry needs to see more collaboration, standardization and exploration to maximize the value of the UK North Sea.“

Stephen Marcos Jones, Director of Business Excellence with Oil & Gas UK, said: “We are delighted that Stephen Halliday from Wood Mackenzie is addressing our conference. He will bring helpful insights on the future of the UK Continental Shelf that will be of huge interest to operators and companies working across the supply chain.”
