Oil & Gas UK hits 500th member milestone

At today’s PILOT Share Fair, Oil & Gas UK celebrated achieving a record-breaking 500 members, with Dundee-headquartered business SafeHouse Habitats (Scotland Ltd) becoming the milestone company to join the offshore oil and gas industry’s trade association.

Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK, said: “I am delighted and proud to welcome SafeHouse as the 500th member of our fast-growing organisation, the only trade association to represent such an impressive cross section of the UK offshore oil and gas industry. We have a world-class supply chain and SafeHouse is an excellent example of the creative and innovative companies contributing to the sector. It is a very successful exporter of its specialist services for safe completion of hot work operations.”

SafeHouse is a private equity backed firm, which provides support and advice to clients to manage and control the risks of naked flame hot works (such as welding) and other ignition in zoned hazardous areas. Established in 2001, SafeHouse serves a range of sectors around the world including the US, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Australia and enables clients to safely undertake hot work operations in an engineered, secure habitat that eliminates the need for plant or asset shutdown, the statement from Oil & Gas UK reads.

Gordon Mackay, chief executive officer of SafeHouse, comments: “Oil & Gas UK provides us with a key forum to engage with stakeholders on a number of levels so that we can work with operators and contractors to continually develop our services and respond to the dynamics of the market. It is also the perfect platform for us to glean invaluable information about the latest health and safety guidance as well as updates relating to productivity processes– all of which feeds into our product development plans for serving the industry.”

Oil & Gas UK says that this year’s PILOT Share Fair has attracted more than 1,400 delegates from throughout the UK.
