Oil Search: PNG LNG Project on Track

Oil Search PNG LNG Project on Track

Oil Search of Papua New Guinea said Friday that the PNG LNG project, operated by Esso Highlands Limited, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, remains on track for first LNG sales in 2014.

2013 will be a year of transition for PNG LNG, from heavy construction to equipment and systems installation and commissioning. The operator expects a number of key components of the Project to be completed during the year, including the komo airfield, the Associated Gas facilities and the onshore pipeline to hides.

“In addition, Project drilling activities will continue throughout the year. Other activities for 2013 will include progress with finalising tanker availability and coordinating with customers for offtake to start in 2014,” Oil Search said in its annual report.

The PNG LNG Project, which was sanctioned in late 2009, was 75% complete at the end of 2012.

The LNG project, the largest development ever undertaken in PNG, will transform Oil Search, quadrupling the company’s production base in the first full year of operation, Oil Search said.
