Oil Search Spins Drill Bit at Kidukidu Well, Offshore PNG

Oil Search reports that the semi-submersible rig, Stena Clyde, spudded the Kidukidu 1 well on 3 August 2013. The well is located offshore PNG in PPL 385 in the Gulf of Papua.

As at 06:00 hours PNG time on 0 August, the well was at a depth of 700 metres and installing the BOP, having set a 30″ conductor at 160 metres and 20″ casing at 702 metres.

The Kidukidu prospect, which lies 268 kilometres west-northwest of Port Moresby, is in a water depth of 98 metres. The primary objective is a submarine, basin-slope fan sandstone of Pleistocene age. The well’s planned depth is approximately 2,800 metres and it is expected to take 35- 40 days to drill.

Kidukidu 1 is the third and final well to be drilled in the current Oil Search offshore campaign.
