Olympic Ares Installs Tidal Turbine Off Scotland

Bibby Offshore informed that the Olympic Ares, a multifunctional subsea support & construction vessel, is currently engaged in a tidal energy project in the Pentland Firth, Northern Scotland.

The Olympic Ares, equipped with a 250te AHC knuckle boom crane, is installing a turbine for the Atlantis Resources’ Meygen Phase 1A tidal energy project.

The Phase 1A will see the setup of four tidal turbines with the combined output of 6MW.

Along with the vessel, Bibby Offshore’s owned and operated ROVs will also be utilized on the project, the company said.

According to Atlantis, the project is on track to deliver first power in 2016.
