Omega Subsea to mobilize ROV systems on two NKT cable layers

Omega Subsea has secured a five-year agreement with NKT to provide a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) system for the newbuild cable-laying vessel (CLV) NKT Eleonora, following the contract for NKT Victoria reported last June.

The agreements are part of a wider investment program as part of which Omega Subsea’s total ROV fleet is set to exceed 30 systems by mid-2028. Of the eight new Kystdesign systems scheduled for delivery in 2026, four will be deployed on NKT projects.

Mobilization activities for NKT Victoria and NKT Eleonora are currently underway at shipyards in Ulsteinvik and Brattvåg. Operations on NKT Victoria are scheduled to begin before year-end, while mobilization of ROV systems on NKT Eleonora is expected in January.

For NKT Victoria, Omega Subsea will also supply two launch and recovery systems (LARS) from Ulmatec, installed in the vessel’s hangar and configured to support operations with the company’s two new ROVs.

Omega Subsea said it plans to recruit between six and twelve new employees for offshore and onshore positions, while also expanding warehouse and logistics capacity at its Hilleren facility.
