Origin Announces New Board Member

Origin Energy Chairman, Gordon Cairns, announced Maxine Brenner has joined the Origin Board as an independent Non-executive Director. She has also become a member of the Audit and Risk committees.

Brenner has more than 28 years of broad corporate experience, particularly in senior corporate advisory, mergers and acquistions and the law, spanning numerous sectors including media, telecommunications, infrastructure and the public sector. She holds a number of non-executive director positions and was recently appointed to the Board of Qantas.

Origin Chairman, Gordon Cairns said, “We welcome Ms Brenner’s appointment; her extensive background in corporate advisory and the law, along with her proven track record in leadership roles will further strengthen Origin’s Board and complement the skills of the existing Directors.

“The Origin Board looks forward to Ms Brenner’s contribution and the expertise and experience she will bring in oversight of the Company.

“In addition to bringing strong skills and experience, Ms Brenner’s appointment increases to 33 per cent the representation of women on Origin’s Board, placing Origin among the leading top 20 ASX companies in terms of Board gender diversity,” said Mr Cairns.

Ms Brenner was formerly a Managing Director of Investment Banking at Investec Bank (Australia) which she joined in 2007. Prior to Investec, Ms Brenner was a Lecturer in Law at the University of NSW for eight years and a corporate lawyer at Freehills, specialising in corporate law.

Brenner has been a Non-executive Director of Orica Limited since April this year and in August she was appointed a Non–executive Director of Qantas. She has also been an Independent Director and Chairman of the Audit and Risk Committee for Growthpoint Properties Australia since 2012. Her former directorships include Treasury Corporation of NSW, Neverfail Springwater Limited, Federal Airports Corporation, where she was Deputy Chair, and Bulmer Australia Limited. In addition, Ms Brenner has served as a member of the Takeovers Panel from 2000 to 2003.
