Origin hires Woodside’s Tremaine as CFO

Origin Energy, the owner of a 37.5 percent stake in the Australia Pacific LNG project, has appointed Lawrie Tremaine as its new chief financial officer.

Lawrie joins Origin from Australian LNG player Woodside where he is executive vice president and chief financial officer.

He will be a member of the executive leadership team, reporting to Origin’s chief executive, Frank Calabria.

“Lawrie brings extensive finance and leadership experience in resources particularly oil and gas,” Calabria said in a statement.

“Lawrie’s appointment is another important step forward in achieving our immediate goal of reducing debt and improving returns so that we can position Origin for growth in a rapidly changing energy market, while delivering on the potential of our investment in Australia Pacific LNG,” he said.

Lawrie has 30 years’ financial management expertise across treasury, taxation, strategy and planning, business development, commercial contracting and procurement. He also led Woodside’s continuous improvement and productivity program, targeting long-term cultural change.

Lawrie is a Fellow of CPA Australia and holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Chisholm Institute of Technology, Monash University.

He will start his role at Origin following completion of his notice period at Woodside and will be based in Sydney.
