OSX Gets Operation License for Açu Shipbuilding Unit

OSX Brasil S.A. (OSX) announced yesterday that its subsidiary OSX Construção Naval S.A. received the Operation License (LO) from Rio de Janeiro´s Instituto Estadual do Ambiente (INEA), authorizing the beginning of Phase 1 operational activities in the Açu Shipbuilding Unit (UCN Açu).

The construction works of the UCN Açu began in July 2011, in the Açu Superport Industrial Complex, in northern of Rio de Janeiro.

UCN Açu Phase 1 includes the areas and industrial facilities required to accomplish the agreements of the Company´s current order book. These operational activities are concentrated in the North Quay area, with capacity for assembling dozens of modules and integrate simultaneously two large FPSOs.

With the beginning of UCN Açu activities, OSX is able to serve as a major offshore yard under operation in Brazil.
