Seajacks Vessels Install 36 Turbines at Walney 2 Offshore Wind Farm (UK)

The Seajacks vessels continue to work in tandem, installing Siemens 3.6MW WTGs at a rapid pace on Walney 2 Offshore Wind Farm. Recent installation activities have been described as “booming” by client Dong Energy.

155 turbines now installed – 7 turbines installed in the past week

Seajacks Operations Manager, Wes McDonald says “So far at Walney 2, we’ve installed 36 turbines. Kraken and Leviathan have installed 18 each. Both the Seajacks Kraken and Seajacks Leviathan are performing efficiently and effectively during this period of intense installation activity.

This takes the total number of turbines installed by Seajacks to 155. This past week we installed 7 turbines in 7 days. A great achievement by all the team onboard the vessels.”

DONG Energy has elected to install the WTGs and cables in parallel in order to shorten the overall construction timeframe.

In 2010, Seajacks Kraken installed 46 of a total of 51 turbines at Walney 1 Offshore Wind Farm, which are now producing clean, renewable energy for the UK.
