Pakistan: panel to decide on LNG imports

Pakistan has formed a nine-member panel comprising from officials of all relevant ministries to advise on the volumes and price of LNG that should be imported from Qatar.

Platts reports an oil ministry official saying that the Economic Coordination Committee held a meeting on Friday asking the government to form the panel.

Officials come from the petroleum and natural gas, finance as well as water and power ministries.

Pakistan plans to import around 200,000 Mcf/day of LNG from Qatar. It is likely that the volume will increase to 400,000 Mcf/day if both parties agree on the price. According to the local media Qatar offered a selling price of $18/MMBtu while Pakistan is looking at a price of $15-16/MMBtu.
