Pemex suspends another Prosafe flotel

Pemex suspends another Prosafe flotelProsafe, world’s largest provider of flotels for the offshore oil and gas industry, has received confirmation from Mexico that the contract for its Safe Lancia unit will be suspended.

Prosafe’s rigs in Mexico work under a contract with Cotemar, supporting the offshore oil and gas operations of the national oil company Pemex.

To remind, the flotel owner earlier this month said that Pemex would suspend a contract for the 1982-built accommodation rig Safe Regency, and said it was likely that the Safe Lancia would likely be suspended too.

In line with that statement, Prosafe said on Wednesday that Pemex was suspending the Safe Lancia starting mid-March and that the vessel would be demobilized to a suitable lay-up location.

Safe Lancia is a Dynamically Positioned (DP2) semi-submersible accommodation vessel built in 1984 and upgraded in 2003. It offers beds for 605 persons, and is capable of operating in harsh conditions.
