Pertamina Takes Delivery of Aframax Tanker from Chinese Shipyard

New Century Shipbuilding (NCS) has delivered, three weeks ahead of schedule, an Aframax type Crude Oil Carrier with capacity of 85,000 DWT to the Indonesian owner Pertamina. The contract for construction of GAMKONORA was signed on 24 December 2010 with the total investment of US$ 52.8 million.

The construction process of the ship has gone through three rather challenging milestones:

  • First steel cutting : 2 November 2011
  • Keel Laying : 31 May 2012
  • Launching : 18 September 2012

Commissioning of the vessel was successfully conducted on 20 November 2012 and with the swift construction progress, the shipyard successful confirmed that handover could be done on 5 December 2012 (three weeks ahead of schedule).

The overall length of the vessel is 244.5 meter, breadth moulded 44 m, depth moulded 21.5 m, design draft 12.7 m, scantling draft 14.8 m and Class ABS.
