Peru’s liquefaction facility at Pampa Melchorita shipped its first two LNG cargoes for the month of October.

According to the shipping data published by the state-owned Perupetro, Shell’s Gemmata LNG carrier with a capacity of 138,104-cbm loaded a cargo on October 1 and set off to Mexico.

The exact destination of the vessel has not been revealed, however, it will probably deliver the chilled gas to Mexico’s Manzanillo LNG terminal.

The second cargo was dispatched to Spain aboard the Methane Julia Louise on October 3, however, Perupetro has not revealed the exact destination of the vessel.

This is the first cargo, the carrier with a capacity to transport 170,000-cbm, loaded at the Peru LNG facility. Monaco-based shipper, GasLog acquired the vessel from Methane Services Limited, a unit of BG Group, now part of Shell, in December 2014.

With the two latest shipments, Peru’s 4.4 mtpa liquefaction plant dispatched 356 cargoes in total, since it began operations in June 2010.
