Peru’s only liquefaction facility at Pampa Melchorita shipped a cargo of liquefied natural gas to Spain earlier this week.

Teekay’s 135,423-cbm LNG carrier Madrid Spirit loaded its cargo and departed on Monday, November 9, and set course for Spain, according to the shipping data.

State-owned Perupetro did not reveal the exact destination of the second vessel dispatched to Spain in two days, as Shell’s Gemmata LNG carrier with a capacity of 138,104-cbm departed the facility on Sunday.

With the latest cargo, Peru’s LNG export facility shipped 363 vessels in total, since it started operations in June 2010.

The 4.45 million tons per year gas liquefaction plant is located 170 kilometers south of Lima and receives gas via a 408-kilometer pipeline built across the Andes.
