Petrobras cans another vessel deal with Havila

Brazilian oil company Petrobras has terminated yet another vessel contract with the Norwegian offshore vessel operator, Havila Shipping.

The shipping company said on Wednesday that the oil company terminated the contract for the vessel Havila Favour.

The vessel’s contract was blocked by local tonnage and the Certificate needed for operation in Brazil was not renewed, Havila explained.

The platform supply vessel (PSV) of a VS 483 design was built in 1999 by Ferguson Shipbuilder.

Petrobras hired the PSV Havila Favour back in 2010 for four years and then declared its four years option in 2014. The terminated contract was valid until October 2018.

This is yet another vessel in line of those terminated by Petrobras due to local tonnage blockage. Previously, Petrobras terminated a contract for the 2005-built PSV Havila Princess in January 2016 and for the 1998-built multi-purpose offshore vessel Havila Faith in February. Furthermore, the contract for the 1996-built PSV Havila Fortress was terminated in April.
