Petrobras Gets Nod to Deploy 13 FPSOs in Santos Basin by 2017

Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) issued a preliminary license to Petrobras for the installation of 13 FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading) vessels in the Santos Basin by 2017.

The FPSOs will be installed between 200 and 300 km away from the coast in Block BM-S-9, BM-S-11 in the pre-salt Santos Basin.

The first vessel, Cidade de Ilhabela, to be installed at the Sapinhoá North field is expected to start operations later this year.

The FPSO is owned and will be operated by Joint Venture partners SBM Offshore N.V., Queiroz Galvão Óleo e Gás S.A.(QGOG) and Mitsubishi Corporation under a 20-year lease contract for Petrobras.
