Petrobras work starts for ‘Arendal Spirit’

Teekay’s flotel, the Arendal Spirit, has successfully completed acceptance tests in Brazilian waters and is now in full operation for Petrobras under a 3-year charter contract.

The unit arrived to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in May, after a long journey from the COSCO shipyard in China, and underwent acceptance tests that has now successfully completed.

Arendal Spirit is Teekay’s first offshore accommodation unit. According to Teekay, the cylindrical hull design provides high uptime, more deck space in comparison to conventional vessel designs, and additional storage space. The unit was designed by Norwegian company Sevan Marine and it has the capacity to accommodate a crew of 490 persons.

In addition to the rig’s 3-year charter contract, Petrobras will have options to extend the contract.
