Petronet LNG’s board chairman resigns

Petronet LNG, India’s largest importer of the chilled gas, informed that Saurabh Chandra has resigned as Chairman and Director on the Board of the company.

Chandra resigned “owing to his superannuation from the services as Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural gas, Government of India,” Petronet said on Tuesday.

The company has recently found itself under investigation due to complaints regarding alleged irregularities in respect to long-term LNG import deals with RasGas and ExxonMobil.

Despite complaints, and encouraged by the growth potential, Petronet LNG has put forward plans to expand the capacity of its Dahej LNG terminal to 17.5 mtpa.
