Petronet of India Gets 1000th LNG Cargo at Dahej

Petronet LNG of India said it has achieved a significant milestone and created a kind of world record on 25th February 2013 by receiving 1000th LNG cargo at its Dahej LNG Terminal.

This feat was achieved by the company in a span of 9 years and 26 days which is a first for any LNG Terminal in the world with a single jetty operation. To commemorate this achievement the company organized a function at its Dahej LNG Terminal which was attended by Sh Vivek Rae, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India & Chairman,PLL, Sh Sudhir Vasudeva, CMD, ONGC, Sh.Ghanim A Al Shahwani, Head Sales, Rasgas, Qatar Ms. Avantika Singh, District Collector , Bharuch, Board members of promoter companies and senior officials from various national and international Oil & Gas companies and leaders from other business associates.

Dr A K Balyan, MD & CEO, Petronet LNG speaking on this occasion said that achievement of 1000th Cargo for an LNG Terminal is not an easy task, though this milestone has already been achieved by some of the busiest terminals of the World but it took them more than 18 years. Petronet LNG has achieved this milestone in 9 years and 26 days and so far been able achieve send out of 62.76 million metric tones of re-gasified LNG which is equivalent to 3096 million BTUs. Dr Balyan attributed this success to the encouragement and support of Promoters, excellent world class infrastructures and very dedicated & competent employees of the company. The LNG Terminal is being maintained and managed in a highly professional way.

Mrs. Avantika Singh Aulakh, Collector, Bharuch during her address at the occasion commended Petronet of its achievement, having set a benchmark in the Oil & Gas industry and she also thanked Petronet for extending support to Community Development projects and working with State Government in Social projects.

Sh Vivek Rae in his address lauded the efforts of Petronet team and its senior management for steering the company towards this glorious achievement. He drew attention to the fact that India being a developing country faces many issues concerning energy, food, ecological and defence security, though later three issues could be mitigated through internal efforts but energy is the most vulnerable one due to dependency on external factors. He emphasized that we need to keep looking for new opportunities within and outside the country through exploration and development of energy assets.

On this occasion Sh Vivek Rae, Secretary, MoPNG and Chairman, PLL released a Souvenir: Voyage of Achievement, 1000th Ship – A Milestone showcasing the achievements of Petronet.
