PGNiG Eyes U.S. LNG

PGNiG is reportedly considering a possibility of importing LNG from the USA with first deliveries taking place in 3 or 4 years.

Mariusyz Zawisza PGNiG CEO said that the price of American gas could be attractive in comparison to agreements with Gazprom and Qatargas, the Warsaw Business Journal reported.

Zawisza also said that the company will look into the possibility of renegotiating the gas prices seeing the relations of the Russian company with Italy and Lithuania that were offered a lower gas price, and the fact that only Germany and Italy imported more.

Delivery of 1.3 Bcm per annum of gas from Qatargas will begin in January 2015 even though the LNG terminal in Świnoujście will be in commercial use in May or June next year.
