PGS Offers Data for Colombia Ronda 2012 Bid Round

Colombia’s National Hydrocarbon Agency has announced preliminary terms and timing for the upcoming Bid Round, Ronda 2012.

The official launch of Ronda 2012 took place in Bogota on the 21st of February at the JW Marriott and is to be followed by a series of road shows which include: Toronto, Calgary, Houston, London, Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro. The bid round is set to be open for 8 months from 21st of February to 17th of October 2012.

Available acreage

The National Hydrocarbon Agency is offering up for bid 109 exploration blocks which are classified into three different categories: Type 1, 2 & 3 (See License Map).

Type 1 Blocks known as Mature Blocks are onshore blocks located in mature basins and cover approximately 656,520 hectares through the Lower, Middle & Upper Magdalena, Caguan-Putumayo and Llanos Basins.

Type 2 Blocks known as Newly Prospective are considered newly prospective for hydrocarbons and include 29 onshore blocks and 5 offshore blocks which comprise approximately 3.6 million hectares. Offshore blocks classified as Type 2 include acreage in the Guajira Offshore and Sinu Offshore Basins.

Type 3 Blocks are known as Special Technical Evaluation Agreements and include 46 blocks comprising approximately 9.2 million hectares. Offshore blocks classified as Type 3 account for nearly half of the acreage and includes blocks in the Tumaco Offshore, Colombia and Guajira Offshore Basins.

PGS PACIFICO MC2D: 5,134 km of data which includes 2,404 km of reprocessed legacy 2D data and 2,730 km of high resolution, long offset 2D data acquired 2009 and located in the Manglares and Tumaco Basins.

PGS LOS CAYOS MC2D: 5,063 km of data which includes 1,938 km of reprocessed legacy 2D data and 3,125 km of high resolution, long offset 2D data acquired 2008 throughout the Colombian North Caribbean covering the flanks and crest of the Colombian portion of the Nicaragua Rise.
