The DLV 2000, a 184 meters long and 38.6 meters wide combination heavy lift deepwater S-Lay pipelay vessel with 2,000-tonne crane, was ordered from Keppel Singmarine in December 2012 .

The vessel, aimed to boost McDermott’s fleet on the subsea construction market, has been developed by Keppel’s ship design arm, Marine Technology Development (MTD), to be able to support advanced deepwater pipelay operations at depths of up to 3000 meters.

DLV2000 will be joining the fleet after subsea construction support vessel CSV108, sister ship to the Lay Vessel North Ocean 105.

It was announced as part of McDermott’s alliance with Petrofac in combination with its JSD 6000 installation vessel, which was under construction at Chinese manufacturer ZMPC, until Petrofac terminated that contract.

Launched in November 2014, once completed, the DLV2000 will be able to accommodate up to 400 personnel.
