On Thursday, 19 May, the last turbine was erected at the Gode Wind site in the German part of the North Sea from A2SEA’s installation vessel Sea Challenger.

With all 97 Siemens 6MW turbines installed at the offshore wind farms Gode Wind 1 and Gode Wind 2, the project’s total capacity of 582MW will deliver enough green power to cover the consumption of 600,000 Germany households.

The construction of Gode Wind 1 and 2 took just over one year. In April last year, the construction activity started approximately 45 kilometres off the coast. In August, the offshore team began the installation of the 6MW wind turbines. Despite the challenging weather conditions during winter time, the installation was completed on schedule, DONG Energy said.

Sea Challenger’s next project is turbine installation on the 402MW Dudgeon offshore wind farm in the UK.
