Photo of the Day: Sunset on Gwynt y Môr

Offshore WIND’s photo of the day: Sunset at Gwynt y Môr, world’s second largest offshore wind farm.

The photo was taken on November 27 from the Kinmel Bay, Turbine Transfers’ 18-metre fast catamaran for wind farm support and crew transport.

The Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm recently reached a major milestone by ending its construction phase. Since most of its turbines are already generating electricity, the wind farm will soon be commissioned and operational.

Gwynt Y Môr is located eight miles off the coast, in Liverpool Bay. The site covers an area of 80km². It has 160 turbines, making it the second largest wind farm in the world behind the 175-turbine London Array site in the Thames Estuary.
