Italy has received its first cargo of U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced from shale gas.

As previously reported by LNG World News, Awilco LNG’s 156,007-cbm WilPride delivered the Sabine Pass cargo to FSRU Toscana located off the Italian coast between Livorno and Pisa.

The discharging operations of some 105,000-cbm of LNG were completed on Tuesday, OLT Offshore LNG Toscana, the operator of the Italian FSRU said in a statement.

Germany’s Uniper won the cargo delivery through a tender issued by OLT Offshore in October.

This is the fourth Sabine Pass cargo to land in Europe following earlier deliveries to Portugal, Spain, and Turkey.
