PitPoint: EU funds granted for eight LNG stations

The Dutch LNG supplier, PitPoint said the LNG Motion project received €27.8 million (Approx: US$29.2 million) under the European Union’s CEF Transport facility. 

PitPoint noted that the grant signals the start of a project that includes building eight liquefied natural gas filling stations across Europe.

The LNG Motion project, being developed by Axègaz, GCA and PitPoint, aims to increase the LNG availability along the TEN-T core network corridors covering France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Romania mainly for road transport.

The project includes the development of 28 larger stations and 14 stations of the smaller type across The Netherlands and France. This results of the large-scale pilot project will facilitate the large-scale rollout of 400 LNG fuelling stations across Europe after the project period, that ends in 2020.

EU funding covers half of the total project cost that amounts to about €60 million, PitPoint said.

The company currently operates one LNG station in Zwole and expects to complete eight more stations int he next two years.
