Pleiades Back at STX Offshore for More

South Korean shipbuilder STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Co. has secured an order to build up to six LR1 tankers for Greek Pleiades Shipping Agents, Yonhap reports.

According to STX, the order stipulates construction of two 73,500-dwt vessels with options for four additional tankers.

The vessels should join Pleiades fleet by the end of 2016. However, the value of the contract has not been disclosed.

The Greek shipping company is a return customer of the Korean shipbuilding giant as it had previously ordered three MR tankers at STX Offshore & Shipbuilding in 2013.

To remind, just yesterday oil major Shell announced that it has contracted STX to deliver an LNG bunkering vessel which is to be operated at a port in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The vessel will be LNG-powered, and will have the capacity to carry 6,500 m3 of LNG.
