Poland Gets USD 290 Million Boost for Shale Gas Technology Development

The National Center for Research and Development (NCBiR), the Agency for Industrial Development and a few privately owned companies are going to give zł.1 billion for financing shale gas production technologies projects, according to Warsaw Business Journal.

NCBiR and ARP will provide zł.250 million each. The remaining zł.500 million will come from private companies interested in commercializing shale technology.

ARP vice president Jerzy Góra said: “The research will provide valuable support for the development of [Poland’s] shale gas industry. Poland may become the next major producer of this fuel after the United States, and gain substantial independence from imported gas. We can also develop original, homegrown technologies of gas production from shale”.
