Polish LNG terminal cleared to receive first cargo

Polish LNG terminal at Swinoujscie is set to receive the first cargo from Qatar in December as it has received all permissions to start the cool-down and commissioning process.

The permissions were granted following the completion of the pipelines pre-cooling operations carried out in the first half of this month, Polskie LNG, the company building the import terminal said in a statement on Monday.

According to Polskie LNG, the Gaz-System unit, final preparations for the arrival of the first LNG carrier are ongoing.

The second vessel will arrive in the first quarter of 2016 delivering more gas for further operational tests that will be carried out during the quarter.

In the first stage of operation, Poland’s first LNG import terminal will enable the regasification of 5 Bcm of natural gas annually.

Depending on the increase of demand for gas, it will be possible to increase the dispatch capacity up to 7.5 Bcm which corresponds to 50 percent of Polish demand for natural gas.
