Port Hedland’s Monthly Throughput Down

The Port of Port Hedland, one of the world’s largest bulk export ports, saw a slight decrease in monthly throughput, falling to 37.1 million tons in October, 3 pct down from the same month in 2014.

Iron ore exports for the month totalled 36.5Mt, also 3 pct lower when compared to the same month in 2014.

Exports to China were also lower at 30.7 million Mt when compared to 33.8 Mt in September and 31.7 Mt in the corresponding month in 2014, according to data provided by Pilbara Ports Authority (PPA).

The Port of Dampier delivered a total monthly throughput of 15.2Mt, equal to the same month from the previous year.

Imports totalled 79,000 tons, a decrease of of 51,000 tons or 39% from the same month in 2014.

Overall, PPA has delivered a total monthly throughput of 52.3 Mt in October.

Imports totalled 164,000 tons, an increase of 8,000 tons or 5% from the previous year.
