President of Lithuania to Participate in Naming Ceremony of LNG FSRU

President of Lithuania, Dalia Grybauskaitė is paying a working visit to South Korea on 18-19 February. The programme of the visit includes the naming ceremony of Höegh LNG’s FSRU which will be held at HHI’s shipyard in the city of Ulsan.

President Dalia met today with the president of South Korea, Park Geun-hye where they discussed bilateral relations, ways to advance economic cooperation, particularly in the spheres of energy, innovation and high technologies, and the EU-South Korea relationship.

President Dalia thanked for South Korea’s contribution in building the liquefied natural gas storage vessel “Independence”. According to president Dalia, Lithuania has been a member of the EU and NATO for ten years already, has military and political security guarantees, and after building the LNG terminal its energy security will also be ensured.

“Lithuania and South Korea enjoy good mutual relations. Korean product – LNG storage vessel – will help us ensure energy security and independence. Business people of the two countries successfully cooperate in the lasers and IT sphere. However, there is still a lot of untapped potential in economic, trade and innovation areas, though a strong political foundation has been laid,” the president said.
