Prometheus Energy, Ensign Launch Three More LNG Powered ADRs (USA)

Prometheus Energy Group, a supplier of LNG to remote industrial sectors, and Ensign United States Drilling announced the successful deployment of three additional dedicated liquefied natural gas powered Automated Drilling Rigs (ADR®), operating in the DJ Basin of Colorado.

These new projects supplement existing projects where the companies are collaborating, including rigs in Marcellus, mid-Continent and the Niobrara basins.

The cutting-edge technology in these rigs allow Prometheus Energy and Ensign’s mutual end customers to realize reduced fuel costs and improved key air emissions associated with the cleaner burning natural gas fuel. This strategic multi-year agreement further strengthens the growing relationship between the two market leaders in LNG fueled drilling. Prometheus Energy and Ensign are now jointly operating 12 dedicated natural gas fueled rigs throughout the United States, including operations in the Rockies, Midcontinent and Marcellus.

“Prometheus Energy is pleased to deliver this economically attractive and environmentally beneficial solution in partnership with an innovative market leader such as Ensign,” said Jim Aivalis, Chief Executive Officer of Prometheus Energy.  “Our relationship, initiated in 2010 while leading the deployment of the first US based LNG fueled drilling rig, has only strengthened over the past four years, allowing the parties to deliver an optimized turnkey solution to our mutual end customers. We look forward to rapidly growing this already robust relationship.”

“Prometheus Energy and Ensign are working together in order to more effectively control fuel costs while realizing the benefits of a cleaner environmental footprint,” said Jim McCathron at Ensign.
