PSA approves Statoil’s subsea ops on Åsgard

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has given Statoil consent to use pipelines and subsea production facilities on the Åsgard field, in the central Norwegian Sea.

Statoil is the operator of Åsgard, which lies in 200-300 metres of water. Åsgard comprises finds the following finds: 6506/12-1 Smørbukk, 6506/12-3 Smørbukk Sør and 6507/11-1 Midgard.

The  field has been developed using subsea completed wells tied back to a production and storage vessel, Åsgard A, which produces and stores oil, and a floating semi-submersible platform, Åsgard B, which processes gas and condensate.

The PSA has now granted consent to Statoil to the use pipelines and subsea production facilities in accordance with its application.
