PSA Carries Out Audit at Hammerfest LNG

From 5 to 7 June 2013, the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) said it has carried out an audit of electrical systems and barrier management at Hammerfest LNG.

The objective of the audit was to verify that Hammerfest LNG met the requirements in regulations relating to barrier management, electrical installations, prevention of incidents and modifications to the facility.

Result
No non-conformities with the regulations were identified in connection with the audit.

Eight improvement points were identified. These relate to:

  • Replacement of pressure relief valves
  • Carrying out of studies
  • Preparation of barrier strategies and performance requirements
  • Electrical control of temporary equipment
  • Clarification of roles and responsibilities of persons working on electrical installations
  • Equipment and systems to ensure overpressure in substations
  • Systems and measures to prevent unwanted incidents occurring
  • Knowledge and information about consequences of exposure to carbon dioxide and condensate evaporation.
