PSA Norway probes FPSO Petrojarl Varg

The Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway has carried out an audit of Teekay Petrojarl with associated offshore verification on board Petrojarl Varg.

Teekay Petrojarl is a Norwegian company that operates floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) facilities.

The PSA carried out an audit of the company from 9 to 11 September 2014. The audit was focused on the company’s management of maintenance, operational follow-up, maritime equipment and systems. Particular emphasis was paid to the company’s management and follow-up of Petrojarl Varg.

The audit was conducted in the form of meetings at the company’s head office in Trondheim and as a verification on board the vessel.

The PSA informs that the audit identified one non-conformity associated with the company’s maintenance management.

Improvement points were identified relating to: The effectiveness of maintenance; Barrier management; Control room manning.

Petrojarl Varg is part of the production solution on the Varg field in the central North Sea. Talisman Energy Norge AS is the operator on the field.

The Petrojarl Varg is a ship-shaped, turret moored, floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO). The vessel is equipped with processing facilities for oil production, gas injection and water injection.

The Petrojarl Varg is based on a Tentech 700 design, delivered by Keppel FELS Limited, Singapore.
