Qatar: RasGas Hosts TEACH

RasGas Hosts TEACH

As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, RasGas recently hosted a luncheon for 12 American teachers who are in Qatar for the 4th annual Teachers Educating Across Cultures in Harmony (TEACH) Fellowship programme.

TEACH is a cultural exchange tour of Middle East organised by the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce (BUSACC).

The programme, offered to primary and secondary school educators selected from across the United States, provides participants with the unique opportunity to visit Middle Eastern countries and the State of Qatar, with insights on culture, tradition, education and society.

During the luncheon held at RasGas headquarters, Erhama Al Kaabi, Employee Development and Welfare Group Manager commented saying, “RasGas is keen to foster initiatives that build bridges for cultural understanding and so we are very pleased to host TEACH educators for the third consecutive year in Qatar. This initiative empowers participants with first-hand knowledge of the country’s multi-facetted development and enriches them with an experience of the region’s cultures that we are actively supporting by gathering here today.”

Educators in the U S will benefit greatly from learning how their counterparts in other parts of the world address these issues. They can bring back what they’ve learned into the classroom and better prepare the next generation for an increasingly complex world,” said Aida Araissi, BUSACC Managing Director based in Houston, Texas.

RasGas regards social responsibility as integral to its business and implements a proactive CSR programme, which is aligned to the Qatar National Vision 2030. The programme strengthens the company’s connection with Qatari society and provides a structured framework for its corporate citizenship activities that are critical to sustainable development in Qatar.

The TEACH teachers’ five-day stay in Qatar includes visits to key educational institutions and landmark cultural destinations around the country’s capital city, Doha.
