Qatar reaches 10,000 LNG cargoes milestone

Qatar Petroleum on Tuesday said the Ras Laffan port LNG facility reached a milestone with the loading of the 10,000th liquefied natural gas cargo.

The LNG cargo was loaded on board the Q-Max LNG carrier Mozah, which is bound for the South Hook LNG Terminal in the UK, Qatar Petroleum said in its statement.

The vessel, chartered by Qatargas from Nakilat, is able to load a full cargo of 260,000 cubic meters of LNG.

The 5000th cargo was loaded at the Ras Laffan LNG port complex in June 2011, nearly 15 years following the first cargo in 1996.

The seven LNG trains located in the port of Ras Laffan have an annual capacity of 42 million tons per annum.
