Qatargas Delivers Keynote Address at 3rd international Gas Processing Symposium
Qatargas supports the 3rd International Gas Processing Symposium, with an opening keynote address.
The Symposium being held in Doha between 5th – 7th March, is organised through the Gas Processing Centre Technical Advisory Committee and is an opportunity for gas industry experts to help provide direction around the challenges of the gas industries and inject practical experience into the research process without stifling the creative thinking process.
In his key note address, Qatargas’ Chief Operating Officer – Engineering & Ventures and Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee, Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdulla Al-Thani focused upon the existing relationship built between Qatargas and this important forum, he said:
“As highlighted in my introduction I have only recently assumed my new position at Qatargas and my role as Chairman of the GPC Technical Advisory Committee.
Qatargas however has long been a strong supporter of the GPC’s Vision and Mission and its contribution to the research community and more specifically its contribution to Qatar Universityand the State of Qatar. On behalf of the Committee and the Leadership at the Gas Processing Center we remain committed to move our shared Vision forward.”
The Symposium addresses a wide range of topics inlcuding Environmental Sustainability, Gas processing Technologies, Energy efficiency, Carbon dioxide and carbon capture, water management, integrity management, design and safety, flow assurance and operational excellence – which all represent challenges or opportunities for the gas processing industry in Qatar.
The Gas Processing Center was approved for establishment in January, 2007 within Qatar University to address the problems, challenges, and opportunities facing the state of Qatar’s gas processing industry. The center is focused on two main themes which are Asset Management/Process Optimization and Sustainable Development. The Mission Statement states “As a center of excellence, QU Gas Processing Center (GPC) addresses the problems, opportunities and challenges facing the gas industries, and contributes to Qatar vision of becoming the leading gas capital of the world” with a clear Vision Statement of “To be internationally recognized as a leading organization in gas processing research, application, and knowledge Creation”. In support of this Mission and Vision, a Technical Advisory Committee was established with representatives of 16 organisations and companies of which Qatargas is a main contributor.
