Qatargas Participates at Fourth Annual QCF in Doha

 

“Change Your Future, Join the largest LNG producer in the world, Qatargas and, Change the World” is the message Qatargas, is communicating in its media campaign to aspiring Qatari graduates and job seekers at this, the fourth Annual Qatar Career Fair (QCF), held from 10-14 April at Doha Exhibition Centre.

The QCF is an annual event organised jointly by Qatar Foundation, Qatar Petroleum, the Amiri Diwan, Qatar University and the Ministry of Labour.

Commenting on Qatargas’ participation in QCF 2011, Mr. Ghanim Al-Kuwari, Qatargas Chief Operating Officer – Administration on the opening day said: “For Qatargas this important annual event allows us to showcase the outstanding employment and career development opportunities offered by the world’s largest LNG producing company, Qatargas. Our presence at this Fair is a part of our Qatarization strategy, enabling us to meet and recruit qualified Qatari nationals in line with our commitment to ensuring Qatari participation in all areas of our company.”

Explaining Qatargas’ strap line for this year’s QCF “Change Your Future, Change the World” he added: “Change brings a chance to forge a career with us – the recognised LNG industry leader. Change means facing challenges with innovation. Change can lead to a cleaner more efficient source of energy for the world. At Qatargas we continue to strive to excel in the caliber of our people, our innovation, our operating excellence and our corporate citizenship support. We will continue to look for people who meet these qualities and are willing to innovate and change. These people will join us on our 2015 journey, to meet our vision to become the premier LNG company.”

On the process of recruiting Qatari nationals at the fair, Abdul Aziz Mohammed Al Mannai, Human Resources Manager, Qatargas, said:”This is an important platform for us and National job seekers will be welcomed at the Qatargas pavilion by a team from our various professional backgrounds. They will take the details of interested candidates. All resumes will be reviewed and recorded for further follow up.”

Qatargas has already initiated several programmes to support the development of Qatari national workforce:

– The company has introduced a high quality national development program in order to meet its business objectives in this area. All efforts are utilised in developing the recruits and opportunities are provided for short and long terms external assignments with Qatargas’ shareholders, vendors, or Project Expansion teams within Qatargas.

– The company as part of its national development program also offers scholarship to various Bachelor Degree programs in the best universities/colleges overseas and in Qatar.

– In addition to the scholarship program, Qatargas offers development through a TAFE program for Operators and Technicians, and the Clerical and Security Guard Preparatory Programs for non-technical national candidates.

– Qatargas supports the Ministry of Education’s annual overseas English language program for young Qatari students.

– The company sponsors the Chair of Engineering at Qatar University as part of its support to the aspiring Qatari professionals.
