Norwegian ferry operator Torghatten Nord has taken delivery of its two LNG-fueled vessels Huftarøy and Samnøy, built by Tersan Shipyards in Turkey.

Both vessels have been delivered from the shipyard to the operator by the Dutch ship delivery specialist, Redwise, the company said in its statement.

Two of Redwise’s crews had previously undergone training at EU institutes for the previous LNG-fueled vessels deliveries.

With vessels departing shortly after each other and with limited LNG only bunker capacity, Redwise entered into a frame agreement with Repsol for these simultaneous voyages.

Repsol provided LNG bunkering in both Cartagena and El Ferrol, on very short notices with the vessels bunkering the chilled fuel back-to-back.

The ferries will operate at the Halhjem-Sandvikvåg route in Western Norway, and have identical capacities of up to 180 cars and 550 passengers.
