Report: ExxonMobil not giving up Russian LNG project

ExxonMobil is reportedly still mulling the possibility of building a liquefied natural gas plant in Russia. 

The facility would be located either on the Sakhalin island or in Khabarovsk region in the country’s far east, Alex Volkov vice president for ExxonMobil Russia said, Reuters reports.

Volkov added that the project will be progressed at a pace that would ensure profitability to the investor as well as the state.

ExxonMobil signed a deal in 2013 to progress the proposed 5 mtpa LNG project in the Russian Far East.

However, in September last year, Rosneft’s CEO Igor Sechin said the start-up of the project has been delayed for at least two years.
